Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ThoughtSapien collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use ThoughtSapien. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the service.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, including account details such as email address, profile information, learning topics, onboarding answers, tutor messages, course content, code or text you submit, feedback, support requests, and billing-related identifiers. We also collect information generated through your use of the service, including lesson progress, course state, generated content, usage events, credit consumption, subscription status, device and browser data, IP address, log data, approximate location derived from technical data, and analytics events.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and personalize lessons, generate learning paths, save progress, operate tutor and widget experiences, authenticate users, migrate guest sessions, process subscriptions and credits, enforce usage limits, monitor reliability, prevent abuse, debug issues, improve the product, analyze usage, communicate service updates, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing
Your learning inputs, tutor conversations, course context, generated content, and related metadata may be sent to AI model providers such as Anthropic to produce tutor responses, course outlines, summaries, widgets, and other learning content. Do not submit sensitive personal information, confidential information, or information about other people unless it is necessary for the learning activity and you have the right to provide it.
4. Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session continuity, guest-session migration, product preferences, analytics, security, and billing flows. Analytics providers such as PostHog may help us understand product usage, reliability, and conversion. You can control some browser storage through your browser settings, but disabling it may prevent parts of the service from working.
5. Sharing and service providers
We share information with vendors that help us run the service, including authentication and database providers such as Supabase, AI providers such as Anthropic, analytics providers such as PostHog, payment processors and merchants of record such as Dodo Payments, hosting and infrastructure providers, email or support tools, and security or operations vendors. We may also share information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, in connection with a merger or sale, or with your consent.
6. Payments
Payment information is processed by Dodo Payments or the payment provider shown at checkout. We do not store full payment card numbers. We may receive billing identifiers, customer identifiers, order status, subscription status, refund events, tax-related information, and customer portal links so we can manage access to paid features.
7. Legal bases for processing
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we process personal information to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service, to comply with legal obligations, and with consent where required. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, but that will not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
8. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain course history, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and improve product quality. We may retain de-identified, aggregated, or statistical information that no longer identifies you. Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion from active systems.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising where applicable. To exercise rights, contact hello@thoughtsapien.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where allowed or required by law.
If you are in India, you may raise privacy questions or grievances by contacting hello@thoughtsapien.com, and we will respond in accordance with applicable Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
10. California privacy notice
We collect the categories of personal information described above for the purposes described in this policy. We do not sell personal information. We do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may request access, correction, deletion, and information about our data practices by contacting hello@thoughtsapien.com.
11. International users
ThoughtSapien is operated from India and uses service providers that may process information in the United States and other countries. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live. Where required, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms for international data transfers.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, server-side API handling, and provider security controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
13. Children and school use
ThoughtSapien is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact hello@thoughtsapien.com. The service is not currently configured for school-managed student use that requires COPPA, FERPA, district data processing agreements, or verifiable parental consent workflows.
